Coaling carton kit

This kit of a coaling plant is in the scale 1: 160 (lane N). The model is based on designs from the 1930s. The aim of these designs was to develop a powerful coaling plant, which requires little space and requires only a few workers to operate. Our model represents one of the then favored solutions. In this variant, the coal storage and also the necessary coal crane was dispensed with. The coal supply was carried out via a discharge bunker and a bucket elevator with distribution belt. Self-unloading wagons stood by to provide coal supplies on demand, which was then distributed to the bunkers via the conveyor system. The operation of the coaling plant could be handled by a manpower and the required space for the plant was minimal.

Our kit allows the installation of a lighting with concealed wiring. The corresponding installations are described in detail in the construction manual. Of course, each individual solution is also possible. Our instructions are only intended as a suggestion. Therefore, the necessary components are not part of this kit. Note!! We advise against the use of miniature incandescent bulbs, as their heat emitted during operation can lead to the destruction of the model.

The kit includes the cardboard sheets needed for the construction of the model, gray cardboard for reinforcing some components, foil parts for the construction of the stairs and ladders, and a piece of plastic mesh to show the grid cover on the unloading bunker.

The cardboard sheets are predominantly dyed through and have different thicknesses to facilitate the construction of the model. Some small parts are also available on self-adhesive paper, so there are no additional problems with gluing these parts together when assembling the model.

The base of the model has a size of 12cm x 23cm. The track center distance of the three tracks is 33mm each.

The structure is predominantly made of colored cardboard and, depending on the application, in different thicknesses. The railings, stairs and the ladder are made of foil covered foil. A, as we find, very fine-looking and actually not broken compromise.

The lighting we use consists of 0402 SMD LEDs. These LEDs have a size of 1.0mm x 0.5mm x 0.2mm (LxWxH). They are soldered with a 0.1 mm copper enameled wire. These ready-made LED's are available commercially or on the Internet. Of course, larger designs are also suitable for use with this model. However, as a recommendation, it is said that when using small and smallest LEDs it is more advantageous to use those with already soldered connection wire. You save yourself the very difficult and sometimes very expensive soldering to the very small LED's. The LEDs are not included.
