Modellbahn Union
Company number: VT2
The Modellbahn Union N gauge models of the rail bus are based on the well-known Brekina model. Compared to the Brekina model, the Modellbahn Union models have been adapted to the current state of the art and optimized with the current possibilities. The models received the current Next18 interface, loudspeakers and a new drive with a new, smooth-running high-performance motor. The models are analog, DCC / SX digital with and without sound. We install an ESU LokSound 5 decoder with impressive original driving noises in the sound models. The large, hidden loudspeaker, in conjunction with the decoder, produces an impressive sound for N-gauge models. To optimize the digital driving characteristics and the sound functions, a buffer memory with a capacitor capacity of 400µF is built into the sound version of the model. The model is the version of the MAN with one engine. The sound version of the model is of course equipped with the correct single-motor ESU sound.
Prototype: The rail bus was built by MAN between 1956 and 1969 and delivered to various private railways. It was available in single and twin-engine versions with MAN diesel engines from our own production. Depending on the version, the rail buses had 66-70 seats and an engine output of 150-200 hp. The vehicles were used individually or in double and triple traction. Some companies also used the model to pull freight cars. A total of 60 vehicles were built. Multiple changes of ownership resulted in a large number of color and paint variants. The area of operation extended over the whole of Germany, currently there are still several rail buses in regular museum use.
The models have a 5-pole motor, white-red light change (individually switchable in digital mode), a Next18 digital interface, prototypical addresses, NEM coupler pockets and standard N couplers. The models appear in an edition of only 250 copies each. The LüP is 10.2 cm per vehicle.
