1st running number of the series: 125423 The lack of freight wagons at the DB in the mid-1950s led to the development of the Pwghs 54 based on the Gms 54. This avoided the expense of a complete redesign and the wagon could be easily converted to normal G-cars. The Pwghs 54 corresponded to the Gms 54, but did not had its ventilation gaps. Instead, the car was equipped with a train driver's compartment and toilet as well as a frontal door accessible via the brakeman's platform. 1200 wagons were built. Some of the Pwghs 54 were used after being commissioned for express freight, recognizable by the large E on the wagon sides. Other cars were used on branch lines as well as the Autozug to Sylt. From 1970, over 700 unneeded Pwghs 54 were converted to Gls 205, the progressive use of diesel and electric locomotives made the use of wagons for the staff redundant. However wagons were still in use into the late 1990s by DB on branch lines and as support vehicles oversized loads, more cars have survived in private companies as workshop and escort wagons partially until today. equipped with: |

The lack of resources during the middle of Second World War led to a rethinking of the design of freight wagons. In order to limit the use of steel, the 1940 developed Ommu Klagenfurt, compared to older types, showed numerous differences regarding the chassis and the structure. For example the suppport below the doors was removed, to add stability tothe car body a bar was added over the doors. To save material, the doors were made of wood. The cars were built in Germany, the Netherlands and Poland.Of the 23,000 cars built in 1945 about 8000 came to the DB, where they became the type Omm 34. Other cars went to the DR as Ommu 44. During rebuilds and repairs the cars got reinforcements and metal doors. Depending on the conversion, the car got other names such as Omm 35 or 44, some were also retrofitted with supports below the chassis. In 1966 62 wagons where still in use at the DB and some were renamed to E 029. The last car went out of service in 1971. At DR the cars were also rebuilt and strengthened in 1962. They received the UIC number El 5565. The Modellbahn Union N gauge models of the Omm 34 wagons in scale 1:160 feature numerous details and printing. Different lettering and colours based on time of usage are also being realised, the interior parts are also detailed. All models feature close coupling mechanism and NEM coupler pockets. The length over buffer is 6,2cm per wagon. More information on this model and our product range can be found on our info pages. The set includes cars with the running numbers 831088 and 830238. One car with brakehouse. |

2nd running number of the series: 268781 The Gms 54 were the first covered type of DB from conversions of older cars. The chassis was mainly used from the older cars. Special production lines had been set up in the maintenance depots Fulda and München-Freimann. About 14100 Gms 54 were made until the early 1960s. The car bodies were made of synthetic wood panels (after initially thought of planking), the floor made of pine bollards, the roof made of PIB or PVC plastic. 13800 cars were redrawn to Gls 205 by 1968 and got UIC steps and other modifications. Among other things, the roofs were replaced by StCu sheet metal. At the end of 1987, the stock was still at 4000 cars, these were then gradually phased out. Some cars were still used as a railway service cars until the 1990s, others were sold by the DB to construction companies. The Modellbahn Union N scale models of the Gms 54 cars are characterized by detailed design and printing. Country-specific abbreviations and various addresses are also taken into account and there are versions with and without the breaking platform. All models have a close coupling mechanism and NEM coupler pockets. Each running number appears in an edition of 200 copies. The length over buffer is 6.9cm per car. equipped with: |
