Concrete sleeper track is now standard across Europe – and this should also apply to model railways. N gauge will now receive concrete sleeper track with a NEM-compliant track profile in the flat Code 60 profile (previous tracks from Fleischmann and Minitrix were Code 80).
The Minitrix rail profile is based on the prototype UIC 60 profile and correctly implements Code 60 according to NEM standards. The tracks, with their grey concrete sleeper look, feature solid profile rails made of a special stainless alloy. The material and rail profile ensure reliable contact for power transmission to the wheels; the distance between the centers of two rails is 33.6 millimeters, as with most N gauge track systems.
Minitrix track is ideal for quickly setting up a layout on a table or floor. With six curve radii, flexible track, standard or slim turnouts and crossings, the Minitrix track system offers ideal conditions. The most important factor is careful track laying. Small irregularities, shavings left under the track, or deburred drill holes have a relatively greater impact in 1:160 scale than in larger scales. For trouble-free operation, it is recommended to mount the N-scale layout on a solid base, either on a board or frame. Minitrix track features solid profile rails made of a special stainless alloy. Together with the prototypical profile cross-section, this ensures unsurpassed contact reliability between wheel and rail.
