Description
The 5-piece backyard set includes:
- 2x backyard sheds for commercial enterprises (58 x 55 x 37mm and 67 x 68 x 36mm)
- 1x cellar entrance / cellar staircase exit (39 x 14.9 x 18.7 mm)
- 2x coal hatch (Double coal hatch 8.1 x 15.8 x 5.5 mm - Single coal hatch: 8.1 x 9 x 5.5 mm)
This set is compatible with many houses, but was specifically designed to fit MU_N-H00333 and MU_N-H00334. In densely populated city centers, small businesses were often located in the backyards of tenement buildings. Craftsmen had their workshops and storage areas there, maximizing the economic use of the land.
To access the cellar rooms, there were separate external cellar stairs (the model requires a 39 x 14.9 mm recess in the base plate). Coal merchants used these cellar entrances for deliveries by sack. The coal was usually brought into the cellar in coal crates, which were carried on the backs of the merchant's employees; these crates typically weighed 200 kg. The loose coal, often broken coal (which was cheaper), was emptied from the sacks through the hatches. These were often so-called "egg-shaped" coals, named for their shape. The coal in the crates was briquettes. Two coal hatches for loose coal deliveries are included for storing coal in the cellar.

The kits are manufactured true to the original using state-of-the-art laser technology. Production takes place entirely in Germany at Modellbahn Union / DM-Toys in Issum. All components are precision-cut from cardboard or wood in various thicknesses, allowing for quick assembly. The building surfaces are laser-engraved, resulting in a surface that is absolutely realistic in both color and scale. Some wall elements are laser-cut with serrated edges, allowing for easy assembly by simply slotting and gluing them together. Attractive packaging and detailed assembly instructions complete the new product line.
