The model railway Union N gauge models of the Uerdingen new-build tank cars impress with their detailed design and printing. Country-specific abbreviations and various addresses are also taken into account. The models are distinguished by prototypical changes to boiler attachments, lashing hooks and chassis attachments. All models have close coupling links and NEM coupling pockets. Each company number appears in an edition of 250 copies. The length overhang is 5.9 cm per car.
The rapid increase in motorization in the 1950s and 1960s meant that large quantities of fuel had to be transported from the refineries to the tank farms. The wagons built during the Second World War were no longer economical with a maximum capacity of 30 m³, so that rental companies such as VTG and Eva, but also the oil companies themselves, had new tank wagons built in large quantities with 36 and 40 m³ capacity.
The Uerdingen wagon factory alone built over 500 wagons between 1960 and 63. They were hired by Eva and Kontinentale Öltransport AG, an Eva subsidiary that they leased to several mineral oil companies on a long-term basis.
The DEA procured 75 wagons, which were given many different paints through numerous changes of name during their service life: DEA dark green, Texaco blue-green, silver-black with Texaco and DEA symbols and, after the sale in 1995, finally with the KVG logo. The last car, now owned by GATX, was not eliminated until 2013. Eva sold over 100 wagons in 1985 to 3V-Service / Transportgesellschaft Dollbergen, which they used in a striking blue paint, partly until 2008, to transport waste oil.
"Shell" and the Shell logo are trade marks of Shell Brands International AG. Used under license
