Description
Model & prototype 1/2022: Stefan Carstens - chemical tank car. Background information, model building instructions and handicraft tips.

132 pages, approx. 300 photos, approx. 20 mostly large-format original drawings, 13 detailed conversion and aging contributions.

After Stefan Carstens and Harald Westermann published freight wagon volumes 9.1 and 9.2 last year, Stefan Carstens is now presenting the first brochure from the new “Model + Prototype” series about chemical tank wagons exclusively at Modellbahn Union: 132 pages full to the brim with detailed model building instructions and large-format photos , original drawings and numerous vehicle lists. Model making ranges from items for painting and aging, to simple improvements on high-volume models, to assembling 3D printed models; the range of wagons from pot wagons and tank wagons from the early 20th century to tank and chlorine wagons from the 1930s and 40s to bottle wagons built after the Second World War, a “thick Rommenhöller” and a comparatively modern Wacker tank wagon , in the prototype until the early 2000s in use. Everything is converted, aged and skilfully staged by ten well-known model builders, some of whom have been involved in the freight car books for more than ten years.
In the model contributions, Paul Scheller presents the Rommenhöller company and its wagons, Stefan Carstens, among other things, the pot wagons used by the DB up to the 1970s, basic information on the maintenance of tank wagons and presents some of the more than 1,000 two-axle vehicles that VTG and other companies use still operated today.
