Following the unexpectedly high level of interest shown in "Railway Service and Freight Cars" Volume 1, we now present all the car types used in construction trains, for construction crews, and for the electrification of lines in "Railway Service and Freight Cars" Volume 2: Construction and Living. The range extends from the many conversions of boxcars and passenger cars of all kinds to exotic examples such as railcars converted into construction train cars.
In Volume 2, we present the various car types not only with photographs but also with numerous floor plans that provide information about the cars' use. We not only show the individual car types but also trace the historical development of the various construction trains over almost 100 years. There are also chapters on the various conversion programs for railway service cars at the DB and DR, as well as a presentation of specific train formations using photos and inventory lists. Further chapters are dedicated to the vehicles used for line electrification at the DB and DR.
This book also contains a wealth of previously unknown figures, data and facts and at the same time provides many suggestions for modeling.
