In the simplest case, the track voltage is fed to the braking section before the signal via the BM1. If the signal is on "Hp 0", the BM1 creates an asymmetry in the otherwise symmetrical digital voltage, which is recognized by decoders of the GOLD and SILVER series. The result is gentle braking of the train to a standstill.
If the train comes from the opposite direction, it simply continues, as the asymmetry is recognized depending on the direction. If the signal goes back to "Hp 1", the BM1 is bypassed by the signal switch, the train accelerates with the acceleration set in the decoder.
