The integrated load control of the decoder keeps the speed of the locomotive constant regardless of the load. The motor control can be high frequency with about 16kHz for a very quiet engine or low frequency for the operation of older engines. The decoder can be set in DCC format either to one of 127 base addresses or to one of 10239 extended addresses (also referred to as 4-digit addresses). In addition, the decoder supports operation within multiple tractions through a consistent address. In Motorola format, up to 254 addresses can be used. Depending on the central unit, operation can take place with 14, 28 or 128 speed steps. The speed curve is particularly quick and easy to adjust by programming the minimum, center and maximum speed. In addition, an own characteristic can be set via a speed table with 28 memory locations. Different maximum speeds for forward and reverse travel (eg steam locomotives) are also possible. The two function outputs of the decoder can be used either for directional light or for light and an additional function (eg steam generator). Each function output can be assigned effects (eg flashing, flashlight, dimming, etc.), in addition to which the repetition frequency of the effects can be set. Function F4 allows switching to the shunting gear. With reduced speed and braking / starting delay, maneuvering operations can be carried out particularly sensitively. By means of the function F3, the lamps can be dimmed, ie set to lower brightness. The motor output can be loaded with up to 700 mA, the individual function outputs can each be loaded with 150mA. All outputs of the decoder have protective devices that switch off the decoder in case of a short circuit. The decoder supports all common DCC programming procedures (physical, paged CV or direct CV addressing) as well as programming while driving using "Programming on the Main". Also in Motorola format the programming of the decoder is possible without opening the locomotive. For trouble-free operation with bad track contact, the decoder has a short-term memory for the current driving information.
