Electric locomotive BR180 dumpling press DR Ep.V

The model: A dual-system locomotive was needed for cross-border traffic between Berlin/Dresden and Prague. The development and construction took place at Skoda. The prototype of the “dumpling press” was put into operation by the DR in 1988 as the BR230. It was not until the beginning of 1991 that 20 locomotives were delivered to the DR and 15 locomotives to the CSD. The CD locomotives have the series number 372. The main area of application for this two-system locomotive is train traffic. After a short period of use, the DR locomotives were given the designation BR180 at the beginning of 1992. The “dumpling press” can be found in front of passenger and freight trains. The universally applicable locomotive with its unmistakable exterior will initially be delivered in the DR series 180 and the CD series 372.
