Standard branch line railcar type CPwVT-34 – VT 135:

The two-axle standard branch line railcars VT 135 061 to 132 were developed in the mid-1930s by the Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft. In 1937 and 1938, 64 units were delivered to the DRG. Further construction was not carried out in favor of four-axle railcars and the outbreak of the Second World War. Despite significant wartime losses, several railcars survived. After 1945, 32 units came to the DB, now designated as VT 70.9. Five vehicles came to the CSD. Four operational VT 135s were designated M 140 301-304. 10 pieces came to the DR in the GDR. It was used in Saxony, Mecklenburg and the Altmark. In 1970, 6 units received the new company numbers 186 004 - 007, 258 and 259. The vehicles were phased out in the mid-1970s. Railcar 186 258-0 has been preserved as a museum vehicle in depot Halle P. The model corresponds to the VT 135 062 of the DR Era III in terms of coloring and lettering. The VT 135 062 was based in the Pieschen depot of the Rbd Dresden from 1947 to 1965. From 1957 to 1964 it was used on the route from Bad Schandau to Sebnitz.
