From 1993, the Rhaetian Railway procured nine modern high-performance locomotives of the type Ge 4/4 III for heavy passenger and freight traffic on the mountain ranges in the canton of Graubünden. The first locomotive, No. 641 Maienfeld was also the first advertising locomotive on the RhB route network. Shortly after its completion, the locomotive was labeled with advertising for the famous »Heidiland-BerninaExpress«. The large Swiss flag and the edelweiss flower are the hallmark of this charming themed locomotive.
