Ab 1993 beschaffte die Rhätische Bahn neun moderne Hochleistungs-Lokomotiven vom Typ Ge 4/4 III für den schweren Personen- und Güterverkehr auf den Gebirgsstrecken im Kanton Graubünden. Die erste Lok, Nr. 641 Maienfeld war auch die erste Werbelok auf dem RhB-Streckennetz. Kurz nach ihrer Fertigstellung wurde die Lok mit Werbung für den berühmten »Heidiland-BerninaExpress« beschriftet. Die große Schweizer Fahne und die Edelweiß-Blüte sind das Markenzeichen dieser charmanten Themenlok.
