The Thalys, produced by ALSTOM, was first put into operation in 1996. Since then, 17 of this high-speed trains have been put into operation on the Paris-Brussels-Cologne-Amsterdam routes, as well as in the Alps and in the Mediterranean area. In order to travel these distances, the train is equipped with four different current and eight different signal systems. With an output of 8800kW, the Thalys can reach a speed of 300kms/h when driving on the high-speed track portions of the routes.
