Description
10-car motorized TGV train with engine and control car. Operating number 08 Rouen.
On February 27, 1982, the first European high-speed rail line, from Paris to Lyon, was opened. The newly developed TGV high-speed trains were used, connecting the two cities at a speed of 260 km/h, and later, from 1983, at 270 km/h. The TGV Sud-Est was thus the fastest train in the world.
Both the trains and the track were gradually modernized, eventually allowing operating speeds of up to 300 km/h. The TGV Sud-Est trains remained in service for decades and became symbols of French engineering.
