Electric locomotive E60 DRG Ep.II

With the electrification of the railway lines in Bavaria in the 1920s, the Reichsbahn also sought electric shunting locomotives for its stations around Munich. A condition in the development of the new locomotives was that as many parts as possible from the E91 and E52 locomotives be used to make maintenance more economical.
From 1927, AEG and SSW delivered the E60 locomotive to the Deutsche Reichsbahn in three production series. The locomotives were initially stationed in Munich, Rosenheim, and Garmisch. Due to its appearance, with its long, low front end and the cab at the rear, it was colloquially known as the "flatiron." Upon delivery, the E60 was equipped with a HIIs2D pantograph with two contact strips, which was replaced with an SBS 10 when it entered service with the Deutsche Bundesbahn. In 1958/59, the locomotives were rebuilt, the most noticeable change being the addition of shunting platforms to the front ends. The last Class 160 locomotive, based at the Heidelberg depot, was finally retired in 1983.
