Electric locomotive Re 4/4 10101 SBB Ep.IV

For the SBB's Bahn 2000 project, BBC and SLM manufactured four prototypes of a four-axle electric locomotive made of lightweight steel. The locomotives, known to the SBB as Re 4/4 IV, were intensively tested by the SBB from 1982. The 160 km/h locomotives were used to test not only the new rectifier technology but also new color schemes - so all four machines received different paint jobs. It was not until 1986 that the Re 4/4 IVs were given a uniform color scheme in traffic red with the Bahn 2000 advertising. From 1994, the Südostbahn (SOB) took over the locomotives known as Re 446 and turned them into rolling advertising boards. With the introduction of the Stadler Flirt at the SOB in 2019, all Re 4/4 IVs were sold to the EDG.
