Of this rail artillery 25 of the 30 pieces commissioned were delivered to the German Wehrmacht. The gun with a caliber of 28.3 cm could be used on a large part of the rail network without the conversions were required. K5 batteries participated in all major campaigns during the Second World War. They were, inter alia, on the French Channel coast and were found during the war on almost all fronts with artilleristischen focus formations. Two copies are still preserved today, one is in the US Army Ordnance Training and Heritage Center in Fort Lee, Virginia, USA. The second is in the Musée du Mur de l'Atlantique battery Todt in Audinghen - Cap Gris Nez, France.
