Starter set bimodal multiple unit GWR Class 800/0 IET Premium Ep.VI

These two new N (1:148) scale 5-car train sets, launching in early 2021, are sure to be very popular with modern modelers. A corresponding starter set for each paint finish will also be available in the Gaugemaster Collection.

The Class 800 AT300 is a bimodal multiple unit built by Hitachi for the Great Western Railway and the London North Eastern Railway. They use electric motors for propulsion, but in addition to operating on tracks with overhead lines, they are equipped with diesel generators so that they can also run on non-electrified tracks. The trains are based on the Hitachi A-Train design and were built by Hitachi between 2014 and 2018.

The trains were assembled at Hitachi's Newton Aycliffe factory from bodyshells supplied from Kasado, Japan.

The Class 800 is part of the Intercity Express Program (IEP) and belongs to the Hitachi AT300 product family. Their respective railway companies also gave the units their own brands; on Great Western Railway they are called Intercity Express Trains and on London North Eastern Railway they are called Azuma.

We are pleased to be able to present this iconic train from the legendary Japanese manufacturer KATO, one of the world's leading companies in the field of N scale model trains. We would also like to thank Hitachi and GWR for their helpfulness and support in bringing this project to market.
