The Swiss Federal Railways procured the stake cars type M5/Ks-w, later Ks 330, from 1959 to 1970 in seven lots. Stake wagons are mainly intended for the transport of bulky goods. These include, for example, steel, wood, large machines and motor vehicles as well as prefabricated parts and heavy individual loads. They are also used to move soil and gravel.
