The Nightjet locomotive 1216 012 is now the second Taurus locomotive in this design alongside the ÖBB 1116 195. What is striking about the 1216 is the red stripe on the two front sides, which is required for Italian approval.

With the timetable change in December 2016, ÖBB put the Europe-wide night train service into operation under the Nightjet brand name. Since December 2017, Nightjet (NJ) has also been a train type. The transformation of the cars was realized with adhesive foils. The eye-catching design is designed in midnight blue with a hint of a starry sky.
