Description
Electric locomotive 372 007-5 of CD Cargo.

For continuous electric operation on the Dresden–Prague railway line, the Czechoslovak State Railways (CSD), together with the East German State Railway (Deutsche Reichsbahn), procured a total of 35 multi-system locomotives, which could be used on both the 3 kV DC network of Czechoslovakia and the 15 kV AC network of East Germany. After testing a prototype, fourteen production locomotives were put into service from 1991 onwards and stationed at the Decin locomotive depot.
With the founding of the freight division CD Cargo in 2007, nine locomotives were allocated to the new company. Since these were the only CD Cargo locomotives authorized for use on the German rail network until 2016, all locomotives were gradually modernized and painted in the company's new colors. Besides their primary role in transporting trains at the Decin/Bad Schandau border crossing (and onward to Dresden and Leipzig), they are occasionally used for domestic services and also reach the border stations with Poland.
