The TRAXX 2 is a consistent further development of the first TRAXX series. The most obvious difference is that the vehicles have a revised locomotive body. The change was made to meet stricter safety standards regarding crashworthiness. You can immediately recognize them by the downward-pulled corners on the locomotive body.
The TRAXX 2 has also proven itself in passenger transport: A third series of the BR 146, which has been delivered since 2005, adopts the modifications introduced with the BR 185.2 and is classified as BR 146.2. They mainly transport double-decker trains.
