The Bern-Lötschberg-Simplon-Bahn (BLS) ordered a further developed universal locomotive based on the SBB Re 460 from the Swiss companies SLM Winterthur and ABB Zurich under the series designation 465. In contrast to the Re 460, the locomotives not only have one converter per bogie, but one converter per axis. In this way, the traction can be optimally brought to the rail. The BLS mainly use the 18 locomotives in freight transport, but also in front of the commuter trains with EW III and EW IV wagons.
