From the mid-1950s, the Deutsche Bundesbahn procured a total of 942 locomotives of the V 60 / V 60.1 series for light and medium-sized shunting services. The difference between the series V 60 (260) and V 60.1 (261) is the higher frictional load of the class 261. The machines reach a top speed of 30 km / h in the shunting gear and 60 km / h in the route. The power is 478 kW. After the first decommissioning in the 1980s, many copies made it to railways at home and abroad.
