- Boiler without smoke deflectors
With almost 4,000 units produced, the Prussian P 8, later classified as the Class 38, went down in history as one of the most numerous steam locomotives ever built. After the turmoil of the two World Wars, they were in service with almost all European railway administrations. Ultimately, five locomotives remained in Austria, forming the ÖBB Class 638.
