¦ In Era III version
The BR 023 was a real universal genius. It carried local, express and express trains. Occasionally you could even see them in the freight train service. The new Bundesbahn locomotive series 023 (up to 1968: BR 23) was still active in Era IV. On December 31, 1971, 76 machines were in the maintenance inventory and, without exception, stationed in three depots (Saarbrücken, Kaiserslautern and Crailsheim). The modern BR 23 “survived” the Prussian P 8 - it was intended to replace it - by only one year. It developed 1314 kW (1785 hp), weighed 131.8 t and drove forward 110 km / h or tender 85 km / h ahead. After the official decommissioning in December 1975, 8 copies have been preserved for posterity in associations and museums, some of them usable.
