The class 86 was a unit tender locomotive that was built in large numbers by numerous German locomotive factories for the German Reichsbahn. Some of these steam locomotives were found again after the war in Austria and were used in passenger and freight transport. The most spectacular operations included the prestressing services for heavy ore ahead of the series 52. The machines were among others at the heating houses Hieflau, Selzthal, Linz, Bischofhofen and St. Veit / Glan. In 1972, the last locomotives were turned off.
