With the timetable change in December 2016, Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) launched its Europe-wide night train service under the brand name Nightjet. Since December 2017, Nightjet (NJ) has also been a train category. The carriages were redesigned using adhesive films. The striking design features a midnight blue color scheme with a stylized starry sky.
The trains previously designed in the Nightjet livery have been refurbished. Instead of a wrap, they have been painted in the colors of the latest Nightjet model. The starry sky effect is therefore a thing of the past.
