The origin of this train is an order from Talgo in 1998 to Adtranz (later bought by Bombardier) to build a power car for the Talgo 350 train.
Production ended in 2000 and test drives began on the Madrid - Seville high-speed line for the following 102 series.
After these test drives in 2003, ADIF took over the power car and two intermediate cars of the test train, which, in addition to a third medium car with "Tourista" seating and a newly developed control car, which corresponded to the structure of the power car but had no drive to form the test train.
The five-part multiple unit consists of a power car, three intermediate cars (service, laboratory and staff) and a control car.
It was christened "tren laboratorio Séneca" at the end of 2007. The staff often calls it a Heineken train because of its green color.
The entire train is 82 meters long, weighs 190 tons, has a top speed of 330 km / h and 4000 KW of power with a voltage of 25 Kw / 50 Hz and a track width of 1425mm.
