INFORMATION ON THE MODEL
1957 produced the VEB Waggonbau Bautzen the first model of the later well-known rail bus. During the 60s, he developed into the controversial number 1 on secondary lines of the German Reichsbahn. Thousands of people commuted home from work every day - using the "piglet tax". In 1959 Waggonbau Bautzen presented a second test vehicle. The rail bus now had 180 hp, a twice as powerful diesel engine as the first prototype. The variant VT 2.09.1, which was realized in 1965/69, differed mainly by the multiple control of the basic model. Now two machines could be driven from a driver's cab.
