This cardboard model kit allows the construction of a single or multiple locomotive shed at a scale of 1: 160 (lane N). Each track is equipped with an inspection and maintenance pit. Since these maintenance pits require a corresponding opening at the site, they can also be optionally replaced with a dummy. This dummy shows the pit in the closed state.

The gates are movable and the engine sheds are prepared for the installation of lighting. The lighting parts are not included. The track center distance of the multi-engine shed is 33.6mm.

A particular advantage of this engine shed row is its expandability or combinability. By small changes in the assembly of the individual engine sheds (is detailed in the illustrated construction manual), it is possible to create an individual engine shed (see example images). There are hardly any limits to the type of combination. By replacing the side walls (alternative components are included in the kit), it is even possible with extensions, to maintain a clear view of all tracks inside the engine shed. Even with a combination of longer and shorter engine shed segments.

The track center distance of 33.6mm is retained even with extensions. The length of the engine shed is 200mm in the normal version (usable track length about 185mm). In the shorter version, the length is 140mm (usable track length about 125mm).

The engine sheds are offered in four versions.
Version 1 - in half-timbered construction, usable from epoch 1
Version 2 - in brick or brick construction, usable from epoch 2
Version 3 - in concrete construction, usable from epoch 4
Version 4 - in quarry stone construction, for use on model railway layouts with mountainous character, for example according to Swiss model

As a supplement to the locomotive shed, AK-Modell offers a water tower and a small workshop to match the respective versions.
Both the water tower and the workshop can be used separately or as a supplement to the loco shed.
Especially with version 3, this option is an advantage. In version 3 (from epoch 4) the locomotive shed is usually no longer used by steam locomotives.
Therefore, the (former) water tower was designed as a converted administration building. For example, the tower can be used as a seat of the locomotive or even
be used as a small interlocking.
