Two locomotives, the V 188 001 a/b and the V 188 002 a/b, continued to be used by the German Federal Railways after the war. A third locomotive served as a spare parts donor. They have proven themselves in heavy freight train and pushing service, primarily on the Spessart ramp. After generator damage, V 188 001 had to be shut down in 1968. V 188 002, later 288 002, was in operation in the Franconian region until 1972. In 1973 both machines were scrapped.

After a thorough overhaul and repainting, she was christened “Nicole”. It is currently regularly used to transport machinery and infrastructure materials to support work on the Dutch tracks.

The development of electric locomotives had made great technical progress in the mid-1930s. In particular, the new E 18, E 44 and E 93 series provided modern locomotives that were powerful and low-maintenance. The more powerful version of the E 93 was to create one of the most famous locomotives in German electric locomotive history; the E 94 was born.
Thanks to the top speed of 90 km/h, the locomotive could be used in a much more versatile manner and, in addition to heavy freight train service, also allowed it to be used in express freight and passenger train services. The last German “Crocodiles” (now: BR 194) left the DB’s scheduled service in June 1988.

The development of electric locomotives had made great technical progress in the mid-1930s. In particular, the new E 18, E 44 and E 93 series provided modern locomotives that were powerful and low-maintenance. The more powerful version of the E 93 was to create one of the most famous locomotives in German electric locomotive history; the E 94 was born.
Thanks to the top speed of 90 km/h, the locomotive could be used in a much more versatile manner and, in addition to heavy freight train service, also allowed it to be used in express freight and passenger train services. The last German “Crocodiles” (now: BR 194) left the DB’s scheduled service in June 1988.

The work is carried out in our own factory in Bönigen.
