Exclusive Lemke model. In the early 1920s, the BBÖ ordered 20 locomotives of the 1029 series for the fast passenger trains on the newly electrified routes. The electric locomotives, which were equipped with only one driver's cab, had the axle arrangement 1'C1'. In 1938 the German Reichsbahn took over the locomotives and they were classified as E33. Seven locomotives were stationed in Germany at the Basel Badischer Bahnhof depot and were mainly used on the Wiesentalbahn and Wehratalbahn. From 1954, the ÖBB locomotives were renumbered as Rh 1073 and partially modernized. They ran on suburban trains in Vienna until 1975.

Planned as a replacement for the Prussian G 10 in freight traffic, the class 50 developed into a universal locomotive by the end of the steam locomotive era. From 1939 to 1943 a total of 3,164 units were manufactured in 21 different locomotive factories. After 1945, more than 2,000 locomotives remained with the Deutsche Bundesbahn and some had to undergo major modifications, which resulted in a large number of variants. The machines reached a maximum speed of 80 km/h, had an output of approx. 1,200 kW and an axle load of 15 t.

Another series of 75 locomotives was built to manage the piggyback corridor through Switzerland that was to be guaranteed from January 1, 1994. These locomotives were later assigned to passenger service with the divisionalization. To this day, they are indispensable for traction in Switzerland's dense scheduled traffic.

For the anniversary "50 years of Intercity in Germany", in September 2021, the Deutsche Bahn donated the 101 013 the color scheme to match the painting of the IC cars. It was given the light gray design familiar from the ICE and long-distance coaches with a traffic red decorative stripe. A total of 145 examples of the 101 series were put into service by the end of 1999.

The ETA 150 series accumulator railcars were very popular with passengers due to their excellent ride comfort and low noise levels. A total of 232 units were built from 1954 to 1965. In addition, 216 ESA 150 control cars were put into operation. The railcars, which were primarily used on flatland routes, were often referred to as the “Flashlight Express”, “Socket InterCity” or “Akkublitz”. Their area of operation was the Augsburg area, Schleswig-Holstein, eastern Lower Saxony, Rhineland-Palatinate, southern Hesse and the Ruhr area.

In the early 1930s, in order to make traveling and excursion services more attractive for the German population, the then Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft (DRG) decided to build a total of five observation railcars. At that time, it was important for the DRG to be able to stand up to the increasing competition in bus services for excursions. When building the railcars, the goal was to give all passengers as free and unhindered a view of the landscape as possible. In addition to three diesel-hydraulic vehicles, two were also ordered for electric operation. H. Fuchs Waggonfabrik in Heidelberg was responsible for the mechanical part, while AEG, Berlin, supplied the electrical part. Both railcars ET 91 01 and 02, which were given the sonorous name "Glass Train" by the population, quickly established themselves with the passengers. In the early 1930s, in order to make traveling and excursion services more attractive for the German population, the then Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft (DRG) decided to build a total of five observation railcars. At that time, it was important for the DRG to be able to stand up to the increasing competition in bus services for excursions. When building the railcars, the goal was to give all passengers as free and unhindered a view of the landscape as possible. In addition to three diesel-hydraulic vehicles, two were also ordered for electric operation. H. Fuchs Waggonfabrik in Heidelberg was responsible for the mechanical part, while AEG, Berlin, supplied the electrical part.
