The class 65 belonged to the new construction program of the Deutsche Bundesbahn and was first delivered in 1951. The characteristic appearance gives the machine an appearance that is as powerful as it is elegant. Your preferred area of work was as a passenger tank locomotive for suburban and city rail traffic in the Ruhr area as well as on the Odenwaldbahn and the Überwaldbahn. Some machines later received push-pull control. The 18 locomotives reached a top speed of 85 km/h with an output of 1,089 kW. In 1972 the last machine drove onto the siding.

In May 2019, Strukton acquired its first electric locomotive. A locomotive from the former 1600/1800 series of the Dutch Railways (NS). The company number at the time was 1824. After a thorough overhaul and repainting, she was christened “Nicole”. It is currently regularly used to transport machinery and infrastructure materials to support work on the Dutch tracks.
Strukton's goal is to equip the electric locomotives with batteries so that they can drive independently on routes without overhead lines. Work planning for the renovation is currently underway.

Prototype: Museum steam locomotive 01 066 of the Bavarian Railway Museum in Nördlingen (BEM). The locomotive looks as it did in 2010. Version with old-style boiler, closed front apron and large Wagner smoke deflectors.
