The Bavarian GtL 4/4 first entered service in 1911. With only a few changes, it continued to be built until 1927. The locomotives proved themselves very well in operation and, with an output of 450 hp, were the most powerful Bavarian local railway locomotives. A total of 117 locomotives were made. Almost all depots in Bavaria that served branch lines had GtL 4/4s in their inventory.

The standard locomotive program of the Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft (DRG) also included the development of a powerful freight locomotive. The locomotive with a triple engine, known as the BR 44, was expected to transport freight trains up to 1,200 t in the low mountain range and up to 600 t over steep ramps. In 1926 the first 10 machines with the 1'E h3 wheel arrangement were delivered. It was not until 1937, after increased demands on train transport, that this locomotive went into series production and was procured in large numbers in various designs.
At the end of 1945 there were 277 locomotives in the Soviet occupation zone, which later became the territory of the GDR. Due to the demarcation after the end of the Second World War, only limited amounts of hard coal were available. Therefore one was initially forced to use indigenous brown coal. Due to the lower calorific value compared to hard coal, the locomotives only achieved about half of their actual output. In the sweat of their brow, the stokers shoveled enormous amounts of lignite into the firebox to make up for this shortcoming.

In 1941 and 1942 a total of four type D 311 double locomotives were put into service by the German Wehrmacht. They were built to transport heavy rail artillery. Two locomotives, the V 188 001 a / b and the V 188 002 a / b, continued to be used by the Deutsche Bundesbahn after the war. A third locomotive served as a spare parts donor. They proved their worth in the heavy freight train and pushing service, mainly on the Spessart ramp. After a generator damage, the V 188 001 had to be shut down as early as 1968. V 188 002, later 288 002, was still in operation in the Franconian region until 1972. In 1973 both machines were scrapped.

With the sound scenes, you can turn your model railway into something really special. Due to the compact design of the electronics and the loudspeakers, the sound is created where it comes from in the original. The ready-to-connect electronics can be installed in churches, for example, or placed directly in the building next to the street musicians. You'll be surprised how realistic a sound sounds when it's in the middle of the action.
The "On the farm" scene provides even more reality on your model landscape. The woman in the white t-shirt and skirt carries a basket in her hand. The elderly lady in a gray top and blue skirt is sitting on a bench. Another woman wearing a gray skirt and green jacket is feeding the three white geese. The lining is in her blue apron. The elderly gentleman in blue pants and a gray shirt is holding a scythe and leaning forward to mow the grass. Another man, wearing yellow boots and a sweater and trousers of different shades of blue, is holding a shovel. The boy is wearing a green T-shirt and brown trousers and is enjoying the exciting time on the farm. Typical farm noises such as cows mooing, birds chirping, sheep blocking and chickens cackling can be heard to match the scene.
The connection is made via a standard 16 V model railway transformer. The sound has a length of about 20 seconds. The item is also suitable for direct and alternating current. To connect the sound module to a power source, connect the black cable directly to one of the two luminous flux outputs on the transformer. The red cable is connected to the other luminous flux output. Now the sound is continuous. If desired, you can also make the sound switchable. A switch or control panel (not included) can be used for this. Simply break the circuit on the red wire with this on and off switch.
Note: The volume of the sound cannot be adjusted. If you find the noise too loud, you can order a resistor for retrofitting.
