Diesel locomotive class 118 of the German Reichsbahn (DR-east), epoch IV.
New construction 2019! 6-axis design with single girdle and square door opening. 5-pole motor with flywheel. Drive on 6 axles with 2 with traction tires. Next18 interface for recording a digital decoder. Coupler pocket according to NEM 355 with link mechanism. White / red LED three-light top lighting, changing with the direction of travel. Prototype: The class V 180 of the German Reichsbahn of the GDR was the largest diesel locomotive built in the GDR. From 1970 it traded as BR 118, from 1993 as BR 228. It was initially built in a four-axle version with two 2-axle bogies, later there were also 6-axle variants. As a masterpiece of engineering, the low axle mass of 15.6 t is still valid today for the six-axle version, so that this locomotive can also be used universally on secondary lines. She also has a permit for steep sections. The resulting possible field of application is unique in German large diesel locomotives. The V 180 accelerated the change of traction at the German Reichsbahn replaced various steam locomotive series in the performance classes above the V100. Three copies, 118 548, 550 and 552, were assigned to the government train of the GDR. In 1995, the last locomotives divested operations from DB AG. After that, numerous copies were sold on private railways. |

Prototype: The locomotive series V 180 of the Deutsche Reichsbahn was the largest diesel series ever built in the GDR. The six-axle version with a low axle load of 15.6 t is even today still considered to be a masterpiece of the engineers involved. The V 180 replaced various steam locomotive series in the performance classes above the V100 and therefore accelerated the traction change at the German Reichsbahn. The three locomotives 118 548, 550 and 552 were assigned to the GDR and hauled state-owned trains. In 1995 the last locomotives of these types stopped operating for the DB AG.
