At the beginning of the seventies, Scheuerle introduced a new transport system for extremely heavy loads. While heavy goods vehicles were previously stretched in the main as tractors in front of a wide variety of low-loader trailers or semi-trailers, Scheuerle took a different approach. So-called self-drivers were developed. However, the system did not fare well with heavy duty forwarders. Only to the German Federal Railways in 1972 four of the Scheuerle LS 250 designated heavy load units were sold. On the basis of these units, the self-propelled driver was able to move total train weights of up to 1,000 tons. For this he could use up to 2 x 16 axles. The self-propelled system consisted of a combination of axle modules and between coupled hydrostatic drive axles.
At each end of the units a drive system with a cab was arranged. The drive unit was a 730 hp MTU diesel engine. With the help of this engine, the required oil pressure flow was generated. The self-propelled rider was able to transfer the necessary drive torques to the roadway, even under unfavorable conditions, with optimum load distribution. When using the due to the strange engine noise also called "Howler" units with high performance in confined areas could be dispensed with additionally biased tractors in the rule. The mobility and maneuverability of the self-propelled drivers was unique. Another advantage was that the units could reach relatively high speeds even under heavy load. Thirty years ago, they were unsurpassed as heavy duty units. The highly detailed, unpainted model was produced in 3D printing and can be processed and painted with standard tools and colors (eg with Revell Email or Revell Aqua Color). - Floor model without rotatable wheels - Extensive decal sheet for the lettering as attached to the product photo - LS 250, carrier and transformer are movable after assembly - The components are designed so that you can paint the modules as far as possible, separated according to color - The wheels can be painted separately and then mounted - For experienced modellers! |

Turnout R3 / R4 left with polarized centerpiece. The bow tie R3 / R4 has been developed in the same way as the bow tie R1 / R2, except that it is tuned to the radii R3 and R4 and that a bend angle of 30 ° can be used. The track layout is so much slimmer. Nevertheless, the space requirement is not too big, even for smaller systems.
