"Ob beim Kochen, Backen, Braten, Resi-Schmelz lässt´s gut geraten” (“Whether they are cooked, baked or roasted, the dishes from Resi Schmelz always taste delicious." Such was the slogan of the "Vereinigte-Margarine-Werke" (VMW) in Nuremberg. The margarine production company was designed in baroque style and is located in the Klingenhofstraße. The company building is simply known as "Resi". Margarine was produced in the Resi factory until 1972 - from then on, the machines stood still. In 1927, the DRG ordered a total of 38 electric locomotives of the E17 series for the medium-heavy express train service. They were the first express locomotives with the 1D1 wheelbase. The locomotives were intended for use in southern Germany and central Germany and were assigned according to the DBs Munich and Leipzig. While the E17-101, 106 and E17-112 were delivered directly to the BW Leipzig, the locomotives E17-107 to 111 first came to Munich in the spring and summer of 1929.
