The lack of resources during the middle of Second World War led to a rethinking of the design of freight wagons. In order to limit the use of steel, the 1940 developed Ommu Klagenfurt, compared to older types, showed numerous differences regarding the chassis and the structure. For example the suppport below the doors was removed, to add stability tothe car body a bar was added over the doors. To save material, the doors were made of wood. The cars were built in Germany, the Netherlands and Poland.Of the 23,000 cars built in 1945 about 8000 came to the DB, where they became the type Omm 34. Other cars went to the DR as Ommu 44. During rebuilds and repairs the cars got reinforcements and metal doors. Depending on the conversion, the car got other names such as Omm 35 or 44, some were also retrofitted with supports below the chassis. In 1966 62 wagons where still in use at the DB and some were renamed to E 029. The last car went out of service in 1971. At DR the cars were also rebuilt and strengthened in 1962. They received the UIC number El 5565. The Modellbahn Union N gauge models of the Omm 34 wagons in scale 1:160 feature numerous details and printing. Different lettering and colours based on time of usage are also being realised, the interior parts are also detailed. All models feature close coupling mechanism and NEM coupler pockets. The length over buffer is 6,2cm per wagon. More information on this model and our product range can be found on our info pages. The set includes cars with the running numbers 831088 and 830238. One car with brakehouse. |

Model Features:
- factory-equipped with sound - Pulling signal - Cab lighting - Model speed - 5-pole motor - All axles driven - Standard shaft according to NEM 355 - Finest printing and painting - Changing headlights in the direction of travel - Improved traction To the model: Until the mid-fifties, engine technology did not allow the construction of a full-service diesel locomotive with just one engine and sufficient power. Consequently, the series V200 and V200.1 with two drive systems to meet their performance program. However, the manufacturers were working hard on more powerful engines and by the end of the decade, a power output of 1400kW from a plant was no longer an illusion. As early as 1956, Krupp started developing a medium-haul diesel locomotive with an engine, steam heating and a Vmax of 120 km / h. In 1960, Krupp and Henschel delivered a total of ten pre-production machines, nine of which were given the nickname "Lollo" because of their appearance, based on Gina Lollobrigida. The tenth locomotive had already a sober much edgerier form, which was much cheaper to produce and therefore was taken over for the series. The machines proved themselves in the freight train service and travel traffic and were built after the extensive testing from 1964 - 1968 in series. In total, Krupp, Henschel, KHD, Krauss-Maffei and MaK delivered 214 series locomotives. They were used throughout Germany, with the delivery of the BR 218 and the increasing use of electric train heating, more and more in freight transport. After the model locomotives were eliminated until 1984, the shutdown of the series locomotives began in 1993. In travel, more and more railcars were used, which led to a further displacement of diesel locomotives. The goods traffic went back and from the DR came the BR 232, in which a locomotive often replaced a double traction. By 2004, all 216 were retired, but many locomotives went to private RUs at home and abroad, of which even some returned and are in their original state in use. The DB Museum receives among others the 216 003 in Lübeck and 216 067 in Koblenz. technical data of the model locomotive: - 1st year of construction: 1964 - Total length: 16 m - Speed: 120 km / h - service mass: 75.5 t - PS: 1900 - kW: 1398 |
