In category 19 “N-System Equipment”, our topic of tram beds was completely convincing in the readers’ choice of Eisenbahn Magazin & N-Bahn Magazin 2022 and was chosen model of the year.
The topic of trams is a great topic, especially for the N gauge. Because you can create a great city scenario in a small space.
We as a team have had the topic of the city center on our radar for a long time. When our product developer took on the topic and realized townhouses, he (as always) came up with several other suitable ideas. To this end, he brought up the topic of trams again. But first Joep Stienen had to scale back his creativity because he needed proper bedding first. There are already systems that also offer tram beds, but the compatible track material must also be purchased. We didn't like that, so we decided to develop a tram system using Minitrix tracks as the basis.
From the Minitrix range, curved tracks (radius 1,2,2a and 2b), switches (R1 and R4), crossings (15 degrees and 30 degrees) and straight tracks (104mm long) were used to construct beds that are used as a modular system Tobe offered.
When these beds were constructed, the overall inner city project could be further expanded and suitable accessories, such as overhead power masts, wall rosettes for overhead lines, city lamps and, of course, suitable stops, were also implemented. Almost at the same time, a newspaper kiosk, beer garden and the Berlin Cafe Achteck were also built. These products have completed the overall topic of tram bedding and have most likely made it the special product series that it is.
The model railway Union tram bed is available with cobblestones and as an asphalt version.
